palm house

the smell of last night's perfume sticks to my skin,
somebody let the daylight in and i'll breathe
in the sunshower, take it all in
smoke and flowers rising into the air:
can you purify me? let me be clean
to find all the passion i've lost
late nights, late days, spend-them-all-in-a-daze
that wears out its welcome sooner than late
simple to start, so much harder to stop
see how the light filters through the glass
now, don't you feel warmer?
this place will never change
and that's a relief, but
truth is, escapism never lasts
it's a short-term solution
"it's the last time i let myself end up looking that"
is just another promise i don't have to keep
if it's only to myself then who has to know?
coping mechanisms, what an excuse,
nothing more to cope with than being myself
but it's true that that can be hard in itself
i wonder if i'm waiting for it to change?
the more that it changes, the more it's the same,
i don't have the patience to procrastinate
see how the light filters through the glass
now, don't you feel warmer?
this place will never change
and that's a relief, but
truth is, escapism never lasts
it's a short-term solution
come into the palm house,
come into your home

Regina's Song
02:16
|

I stand, I watch, from my domestic domain
by the window, staring out at the rain
familiar corners, familiar places to hide
but the world outside looks so inviting at night, oh
so I'll slip through the walls (slip through the walls)
out to the dark (out to the dark)
and I won't come on home 'til the day
and I'll climb on the roof (climb on the roof)
shout to the stars (shout to the stars)
and I won't come on home 'til the day
give me darkness, but give me your warmth as well
and I'll come home with outside secrets to tell
but until then it's just a world I see in my head
so I'll spend my nights there by the foot of the bed
but all that I see
belongs to me
from the stones on the street
to the tops of the trees
so I'll slip through the walls (slip through the walls)
out to the dark (out to the dark)
and I won't come on home 'til the day
and I'll climb on the roof (climb on the roof)
shout to the stars (shout to the stars)
and I won't come on home 'til the day
