i kept your room the way you left it,
though by now it's been such a long time
did you remember how to get here?
well, i don't think much here has changed
good morning! (good day.)
maybe you'd like breakfast,
but i don't mind going without
so what did you do? did you meet someone new?
did you tell him the same things that i heard from you?
and where did you go? was it somewhere i know?
i thought that by now you'd have something to show
and maybe you'll tell me why you came back
or you'll tell me why you were here at all
or maybe you'll get to work
do you think we'll get along now?
do you think we can work as a team?
i think i'll try to understand you
well, i'd hope that you'd do the same thing for me
good evening! (good night.)
you should try and get some rest now
but i'll stay awake for a while
so what did you do? did you meet someone new?
did you tell him the same things that i heard from you?
and where did you go? was it somewhere i know?
i thought that by now you'd have something to show
and maybe you'll tell me why you came back
or you'll tell me why you were here at all
or maybe you'll get to work

goodbye, Mr. Turtle
03:09
|
|||
see, i know it can be hard to bear
when you're carrying your life around
the temptation of a sweet escape
when your home is such a soft surround
it's goodbye, Mr. Turtle
it's hard to put it into words
but things seem different from before
like the foxes on the streets at night
who aren't running from me any more
nobody told me that you'd gone away
if you're not busy, maybe we'll meet some other day.
i leave the radio turned on at night
to fill the space you left behind
white noise bouncing off the walls
and clearing out my ears and mind
goodbye, Mr. Turtle
and maybe you've been working hard
and maybe you've been making friends
i don't know whether i should ask
but can you show me how to make amends?
nobody told me that you'd gone away
if you're not busy, maybe we'll meet some other day.

palm house -album ver.-
03:15
|
|||
the smell of last night's perfume sticks to my skin,
somebody let the daylight in and i'll breathe
in the sunshower, take it all in
smoke and flowers rising into the air:
can you purify me? let me be clean
to find all the passion i've lost
late nights, late days, spend-them-all-in-a-daze
that wears out its welcome sooner than late
simple to start, so much harder to stop
see how the light filters through the glass
now, don't you feel warmer?
this place will never change
and that's a relief, but
truth is, escapism never lasts
it's a short-term solution
"it's the last time i let myself end up looking like that"
is just another promise i don't have to keep
if it's only to myself then who has to know?
coping mechanisms, what an excuse,
nothing more to cope with than being myself
but it's true that that can be hard in itself
i wonder if i'm waiting for it to change?
the more that it changes, the more it's the same,
i don't have the patience to procrastinate
see how the light filters through the glass
now, don't you feel warmer?
this place will never change
and that's a relief, but
truth is, escapism never lasts
it's a short-term solution
come into the palm house,
come into your home

HOLIDAYS IN THE SUN

unsightly
like a rabbit with no eyes
remind me
of the reason why we're here
can you see me?
I'm setting fire to the Wight of India,
and watching the paint and the nails
HOLIDAYS IN THE SUN
DAYS IN THE SUN,
DAZE IN THE SUN
HOLIDAYS IN THE SUN
DAYS IN THE SUN,
DAZE IN THE SUN
and the next day
the ashes washed away
it was better
than to let it go to waste
are you jumping?
then I'll let you go ahead,
because I never learned how to swim anyway.
HOLIDAYS IN THE SUN
DAYS IN THE SUN,
DAZE IN THE SUN
HOLIDAYS IN THE SUN
DAYS IN THE SUN,
DAZE IN THE SUN
